Golden hits of the Vienna autumn: at exhibitions - Archimboldo, Klimt, Miro, Monet, Velasquez, Toulouse-Lautrec

The capital of Austria is becoming the most attractive European capital for art lovers: what names, what pictures! From extensive retrospectives of Claude Monet, Joan Miro, Diego Velázquez and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, to rare guests from private collections that even art critics have never seen before. Meet the “flower heads” of Archimboldo and “Damu with a lilac scarf” by Klimt, as well as a number of interesting exhibitions with works by Paul Delvaux and Pabolo Picasso. And for a snack - the festival of contemporary art Viennafair with a special project ... around the bed!

"Point of View": Gustav Klimt, "Portrait of a Lady with a Lilac Scarf"

The event is truly significant: the picture of the cult Viennese artist was only recently bequeathed to the Kunsthistorisches Museum, before it was in the same family for almost a century and was never shown to the public. Until now, even art historians knew the work only from black and white photography!
“Points of View” is a series of exhibitions in the Art Gallery, which show literally one work, but this is necessarily exceptional, unusual or little-known painting, which is rarely shown in the permanent collection. And even the new details will open as a result of the restoration. In general, until 09/21/2014, meet Klimt, gentlemen!

Miro is alive!

- A large retrospective of the Albertina Gallery is dedicated to Joan Miró, one of the most popular artists of the 20th century. The exhibition (12.9.2014−11.1.2015) presents about 100 paintings, drawings and objects, showing the “typical Miro” in all its beauty, colors and flight of thought."The main path through the garden in Giverny" Claude Monet (copy) December 2013, 50 × 40 cm

Exemplary Monet

The exhibition in the Orangery of the Lower Belvedere (Orangerie des Unteren Belvedere) will be devoted to the iconic impres- sionist, the French artist Claude Monet (Claude Monet), and the influence of his painting on Austrian art. For the Viennese art scene of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, Claude Monet and Edouard Manet served as the epitome of all French impressionism!
The exhibition (10.24.2014−8.2.2015) will show the work of Claude Monet, which already at the turn of 1900 could be seen in Vienna, or those works that served as role models - the famous “Main Path through the Garden in Giverny” was announced. Of course, pictures of followers will also be shown to the public - these are pictures and photos of Austrian artists of the time.

Velazquez: at the court of great art

The Kunsthistorisches Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum) invites an esteemed audience to Diego Velázquez, the first solo exhibition. Thanks to the close family and political relations between the Habsburg dynasties in Vienna and Madrid in the 17th century, the art gallery of the Museum of Art and History has a solid collection of portraits painted by the court artist of the Spanish king Philip IV. These include exhibits from other museums, including those from the London National Gallery and the Prado National Museum. Dates for the exhibition: 10/28/2014–15.2.2015FloraJuseppe Archimboldo1591, 73 × 56 cm

Plus two works by Archimboldo - hunters for "flower heads"!

Giusepppe Arcimboldo (Giuseppe Arcimboldo, 1527 - 1593) is best known for his portraits, composed of "vegetables, fruits, other products." In Vienna, until February 2015, two canvases of this series, depicting Flora, are staying - an excellent addition to the hall of the artist's works, which are on permanent display there. Well, the guests are respectable, genuine, rare: from a private collection, and their origin can be traced back to Emperor Rudolph II, at whose court Archimboldo worked. By the way, the pictures for the first time in hundreds of years met together again!

Toulouse-Lautrec: not only familiar views!

To the 150th anniversary of the birth of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the Austria Austria Kunstforum Wien exhibition center presents the first large-scale retrospective of this artist's works in Austria. With the help of exhibits from the collections of other museums of the world, the exhibition (10.16.2014 - 25.1.2015) will demonstrate the multifaceted and unique gift of observation of Toulouse-Lautrec in various categories of paintings, works on paper, lithographs and posters. Along with the big “loud” posters made for the entertainment establishments in Montmartre, which provided him with international fame, it will be possible to discover the unknown Toulouse-Lautrec.

Modern times are predatory things of the century

Mumok - Museum of Contemporary Art of the Vienna Ludwig Foundation (Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien) presents the exhibition “Real Modern” (Die Gegenwart der Moderne). Together with the curators, we are slightly confused in terms: modernity is not the one that is “art-nouveau” and “secession”, but the one that is “modern” from the modern English. “Modernity is always relevant and gives great potential to the creators of future generations!” The exhibition proclaims and demonstrates works from Paul Delvaux and René Magritte to Pabolo Picasso, and not only. The collection of works of classic modernism, filed under the new “sauce” - paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, furniture and architectural models ... Everything is very new-modern! Avant-gardists of the 60s, post-minimalism, modern ideas embodied Daniel Burenor, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Christopher Wool ... In his presentation, the museum focuses on Austria: you can see drawings by Josef Hoffmann, architectural models of Adolf Loos (Adolf Loos) or photos of Dora Kallmus.

Viennafair - sovriska fireworks

In October 2014, the 10th anniversary exhibition Viennafair will take place, which will again present an overview of eastern and southeastern art in Vienna. In the Vienna exhibition complex will present 100 galleries from Eastern and Southeastern Europe, with works of all genres of fine art, as they say, except for boring! There is a place for photo projects and performances.

Among the events, Viennafair - the collectors' forum “20 four 7 - Collecting The New Contemporary” will allow you to take a look at the strategies of major international art collectors.
Interesting and the opening of the event “curated by_vienna 2014”: 20 curators with international renown in collaboration with 20 leading galleries in Vienna will develop and hold thematic exhibitions. The theme of this year: "The Century of the Bed". Do you need a translation? Then everything - urgently in bed ... in the sense - at the exhibition!
